Obfuscated files for people who don't want their stuff extracted.

Mesh collisions anytime soon? Would love to include an off road course with the Glen Helen GP release.

We can make ridable objects right now, like the SX bridges, but I think the current collision system with spheres throws things off.
This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit.

I wouldnt really call them rideable. But you are correct.
The most important thing right now is the attack proof files. Sorry.

Will terrain.png's be unextract-able with this new file system?

I would imagine if they're in an obfuscated file they'll just just as secure as any other PNG packed in an obfuscated file would be.

Well what I mean is, as you know, all you have to do is open any track thats saf'd in editor and hit the save button and you now have the terrain png.

IMO, the obfuscated files are a stupid thing to do. You shouldn't use it and I hope most people don't bother with it. I'm just doing it because people are using saf as a way of securing their files when the format was specifically made to be simple to decode (hence Simple Archive Format).

As I think about it some more I should probably be making a watermark system instead. If you watermarked an image with a public key and only loaded the image if it were signed by the corresponding private key it might actually be secure. The only problem is making a watermark that can survive image modifications is extremely difficult. You could make something that would survive a crop/scale easily, but adding a wide spectrum of noise is going to be pretty effective in destroying the watermark.

Not sure if I'll do arbitrary meshes, but definitely some kind of triangle based collision. Was going to do it before the last SX season until I saw there were no bridges.

Would it ever be possible to have rectangle terrain pngs?

No. The way the terrain is subdivided you'd have to pad a square. I can make huge terrains work better by reworking how the texture cache maps to the terrain. It'll work way better than the extra little bit you'd get from a rectangular terrain.
