Are you behind NAT? You might have to forward port 19800 to your lan address in that case, since the external IP address is your router's address.

Can also use ipconfig in the cmd, the default gateway is your ip. But I get a different ip from ipconfig than whatismyip.com. BUT I can access my network settings (put your ip number in your internet browser) using the ip I got from ip config (unless the default gateway is different from the regular ip...).

As far as forwarding ports, what should you forward them to? I've done it for mcm2 and Hamachi, I just don't know what ports I should forward for this.

Still having trouble getting the admin commands to work. I've added "--password (mypassword)" in my serverargs.txt file, as well as added it to my mxserver command line, as well as added it to my mx.exe command line.....

Nothing is working.... any ideas?

Yzmxer, you want to forward 19800 to the computer running the server.

Shack, make sure you've killed any mxservers that are already running.

If your password is good, you should see something like this on the console:

Code: Select all

AF_INET 127.0.0.1:33011 Sending session id 8247372d to slot 9 (password)
slot 9 identified (Vanderhoof) uid=1
Sending client info to slot 9 (gate 9)
Slot 9 (Vanderhoof) Key Verified
Slot 9 is ready
If it's bad, it will look like this:

Code: Select all

AF_INET 127.0.0.1:33011 Sending session id f1fc15fb to slot 10 (password)
slot 10 (Vanderhoof) sent invalid password
Slot 10 (Vanderhoof) disconnected
If your client doesn't have a password set, it will look like this:

Code: Select all

AF_INET 127.0.0.1:33011 Sending session id 792ba37c to slot 9 (normal)
slot 9 identified (Vanderhoof) uid=1
Sending client info to slot 9 (gate 9)
Slot 9 (Vanderhoof) Key Verified
Slot 9 is ready

Meh, I'll try again on Saturday, I think it has something to do with severely capped speed. I tested for open ports on a website, didn't even say 80 was open, and thats always open because of the net.

Are you on a network with other people? Then read what JLV said in the above posts.

First step you should do though, is see if you can connect with you LAN IP address. Run cmd, and type ipconfig, and use that IP address to log onto multiplayer. BTW, its not necessary to run a different port. Just use 19800, as it should already be open.

Get rid of your IP address from the port arg. In fact, just get rid of the port arg altogether, so it is just 19800.

It doesn't matter where it is run from. As long as every file is in the same file, no subfolders
