The Drupal

Post by rewrew421 »

Ok as a few of you know I have been working on a temporary upload/download site for user created content. I am using the free content management script called Drupal, on a free FreeHostia account.

Register, you wont receive and email an admin (me or JLV) will have to accept your account.

Posting Content--To post user created content, on the left menu bar go to Create Content>New Post>fill the form out>attach file> preview>post

Then i will approve it, i chose to manually approve it because i can see this site being spammed in the same for as the forums and it is alot easier to delete them before they are posted. Also another reason is to limit all of the childish post we see on MCM Factory, with the requests and pornographic images posted on it as tracks and skins.

Hope everyone here likes it, its not the greatest thing in the world but better the nothing :)

OK, I posted a skin there. Where does it appear there? Do you (Rewrew) have to personally place it there in the skins folder?

yea im just about tired of FreeHostia, does anyone else have a free host that supports php and mysql.

The URL doesnt work for me either, I can long on to my account (sometimes), most times i get the wrong password error but yet i just click sign in again and it logs in? Sometimes of the day the web page isnt loadable, im sick of it. I cant get on the web page to improve it. When i ask for technical support they just tell me to contact drupal, so i contact drupal and drupal says the reason we cant download user uploads is a server problem. Ill stop flappin my jaws, if anyone has a better host please refer me to them or JLV are you interested in hosting a drupal(or some kind of content management site) yourself?

EDIT: now it works.......lol

I was hoping your site would work out. If I did it myself, I'd probably roll my own instead of using Drupal. It doesn't seem like any of the available software out there does quite what I'd want.

I was looking at this site and it says freehostia has a 500k filesize limit. Could that explain the downloading problems?

The only freebie listed on the review site that had a fairly high filesize limit was byethost.com. You get 10mb with them. But I don't have any experience with them.

Yea thats it, overlooked that. I set the download limit to 500kb but it doesnt limit anything :/ o well keep them under 500kb guys

When posting a track delete all the extra files, they will have funny extensions such as terrain.png~2~ or something.

as for skins, im not sure. Anyone know of a more refined compression type?

ill see about using that byehost , thanks

7z format is slightly more compressed than .rar but not sure if it makes that much difference

ok the drupal is updated guys, sorry for the wait Ive been running like a chicken with its head cut off.

.7z is now allowed(that is the format for 7zip correct?)

As i understand WinRAR will open this file format. Please correct me if i am wrong.
