MXS Ventrilo server

Post by Mittocs »

I've decided that im going to purchase a ventrilo server for the mxs community, probably going to start out with a 25 man server which will cost me $10 a month. It's only 10 dollars so I don't mind paying it but any paypal donations would be appreciated. I'll with update this thread when I complete the purchase of the server and get it up and running (probably sometime today)
for those of you who may not know, ventrilo is a third party voice chat program where you can talk to other people from the community using a microphone This will be useful for the multiplayer so you can talk to people and race at the same time.

Server is up! For those of you who know how to use ventrilo.
Host:carbon.typefrag.com
Port:37720

Tutorial for new users
1. First you need to download ventrilo from here http://www.ventrilo.com/dlprod.php?id=1
2. when you get ventrilo installed open the program up and you will see 3 drop down boxes with an arrow next to them. Click the arrow on the first one that says user name and then click new (here you will type in whatever username you want)
3.now click the second one down that says server and click new (type in mxs or whatever you want to call it) and then where it says host you type carbon.typefrag.com
under Port you type 37720
4. now click connect and you should be in the server.

I'll order a microphone now. Are the USB one's the best option, or do the microphone jack one's work just as well?

USB is better but there isn't a huge difference.

Its really not that bad. You just have to connect to the ip of the server. Or whatever the thing is. Its really easy to talk all you do is set up a "hotkey" and it will turn on your mic.
