2009-04-05 snapshot (UPDATED)

Post by jlv »

Changes:
- Improved engine sound.
- Fixed suspension menu bug.
- Online scoring is now accurate.
- Prior scoring info is now sent when you connect.
- Tracks are now checked for modifications when playing online.
- Tracks can no longer be edited when online.
- Player info (bike, name, etc.) now updated after each race.
- Lagged out riders no longer prevent race finish.
- New command line option "--chase-center 0,0,0". This changes the point the 3rd person camera is attached to. Wideopen6, this should make the camera work the way you want.
- Backup files are no longer kept when saving a track. Be careful when saving now!
- Client side registration key code is in place, but the server isn't checking keys yet so don't worry about it.
- Povray exports now include textures for track objects.
- Restart votes now require a 2/3 majority when the race is halfway over and the leader is still going. (This isn't a client change but I thought you'd want to know anyway.)

Update: Fixed message queue flooding when changing player info. Links updated. Redownload if you have 2009-04-05.

The only server running this protocol version is elsinore.mxsimulator.com:19802
I will move the others over once this has been tested a bit.

Update: the other servers are now running this version and I've taken 19802 down.

Windows users: http://mxsimulator.com/snapshots/mx-2009-04-06.exe
Linux users: http://mxsimulator.com/snapshots/mxbin-2009-04-06

Replace mx.exe or mxbin with one of the above files. I'd keep a backup of the originals since these aren't well tested.

You will also need to put this file in your install folder:
http://mxsimulator.com/zzzx.saf
(This hasn't changed since the 2008-11-26 version.)

Hmm.... the checksum is neat and all.....

Something that may be a problem though. Some guys (not me) don't have good computers and thus have to remove trees to be able to run tracks. Currently, the check sum checks for every single file including trees, and if you are missing a tree it doesn't let you enter.

It's the change from this thread with a softer 4 stroke idle volume.

Turn model geometric detail down to 0 and the objects won't be drawn. Better yet, set it between 1 and 9 and only the nearby objects will be drawn.

I have never changed anything about any track, nor do I know how. However, after trying to join the 02 server at Leirop, it stated my track didn't match the servers track. In particular, trees35? I just recently downloaded DJ's new enviro pack, could this be the problem?

Yes sorry, If your checksum doesn't work out, you haven't downloaded all the object paks that are available.

JLV, i found a small bug.... If you change your bike before the next race.... and then the race restarts.... you can not type in the chat after it restarts.

It just delays the chats for me, but something is definitely wrong.

Jbob, how big a font do I need to use? :P

Once you save the track, you wont be able to undo changes once you quit the game

And wow JLV, I didn't think you would get that povray thing done this quick!
