Bike Setup

Post by cairoli222 »

Hello,

I made this topic because i didn't find one about Bike setup.

My question is: I can't reach a good Stability-setup(roll angle, steering demper etc.) I am a beginner so i need a ''good-balance'' setup, can anyone post a setup for me that is the easiest for beginners?

And yeah you may also post your own setup, maybe I can use it.

Thank you!,
Nick

Dont mess with any of that stuff. Just put mass dist at 50. Put your stab at around 80 and run 20 laps. Then go to 70-75 and run 20 laps. Repeat. Practice. RIDE ON!

i personaly think running any stability setting is terrible.. i set mine to 0 and used the secret menu to customize my own... it worked a lot better...

I did that too now.
But for begining, set your stab with a good value, to obtain good responses to your commands.
Take a more stable on bumps suspensions settings, try mine, 63/68-61/82 (fork-shock)
- Another important setting is "rider mass distribution". I play with 0.5 or near, this improve the position effects, but it's harder because you have to always set a good position.
0.3 help to turn faster, easier setting for begining. More stable on whoops, you don't have to always set the good position. But if you play without anti wheeling it's hard, or impossible, to break hard because you can't be on rear of the bike enough. Try 0.41-42, middle setting, is fine too.
Before tweaking stab menu you have to understand each settings. Look in the FAQ and some others interresting threads on forums.
- Set max roll angle to near 47° if you begin, (at this angle you will begin to fall) you will raize that after (mine 75-80). Don't forget, to turn, bank to initiate but accelerator & front position is the key.
-After you can adjust roll damping, which I think is the main setting, to obtain the response you like. If you have a good controller, you will want a low roll damp. The steer damp by default is set near the roll value. But I think this is useless, because when you move main stability slider, it do that. Do this if you don't want to see other values changed.
-Also, If your controller is not very accurate, you can try to put some deadzone on axis, ex: left_key=(-0.100000,-1.000000)T16000M axis 0 (find on forum for that)
Don't forget to backup your "config." file or related parts when you think you get one good.
If you want some config. file just ask I have a lot of them lol. But this don't help if we have the same controller, and experience on this game (and on bikes so maybe).

Here my actual settings : (from config. file, just have to copy-past for trying them)
stability=4.000000
leveling=20.000000
roll_damping=42.000000
roll_limit_angle=81.000000
roll_limit_factor=1.000000
steering_damping=45.000000
steering_strength=75.000000
max_steering_force=400.000000
direct_steering=1.000000
slow_damping_speed=40.000000
slow_damping_factor=1.000000

I think Leveling & Direct_steering are arcade helpers (how fast your bike come back to vertical & direct steering will help, smoothing actions, I don't know how but it's easier with sometimes when you try low stab). Actually, I'm playing with steering_strenght, max_steering_force, but I don't really understand how they work, I need some more documentation on how work physic algorithms in MXS. There's are default values here, but i play generally with high values.

Those are very good tips. The only thing I'd disagree on is your rebound damping which I think is too slow at 68. That's going to pack up on you after a few quick bumps.

Steering strength scales the force the rider applies to the handlebars. Max steering force caps the total force produced by the rider and stabilizer.

roll_damping
roll_limit_angle
roll_limit_factor
steering_damping
steering_strength
max_steering_force
direct_steering
slow_damping_speed
slow_damping_factor

I think i miss some data.

It's because of that it's called the secret menu also ;)
Put your mouse over stability word, then hit the * key to open it.

50 is faster. Less damping = faster rebound.
