WMSA 4: New format for online racing (READ THIS)
Re: WMSA 4: New format for online racing (READ THIS)
This is much more fair than having classes though.
Re: WMSA 4: New format for online racing (READ THIS)
Yeh I meant 2 megabits, so my max down/up speed is something like 250 kbps. And I also meant that when I'm playing elsinore servers with 11 players, I've had no problems with network lag. With my server, I think I've had max. 5 players simultaneously, and no lag problems.yzmxer608 wrote:2 megabytes per second or megabits? (megabits are 1/8th of a megabyte). So 2 megabits would be 250 kilobytes per second.Vellu wrote:Just for comparison I have 2M/2M internet at my home, and I have never had lag problems on full public servers (11 players?)
I only have 655 kB (kilobytes) per second, so far it has handled at least 5 people in my server (about 6 including me) and has run fine. I imagine 2 megabytes could handle at least 15.
Sorry for being so unclear with previous post.

Re: WMSA 4: New format for online racing (READ THIS)
So for 40 riders that's about 2,498.56 mB which is about 2.5 gB per second .
Going by that chart I should be able to run 20 riders in one server, I think... (I have 655 kB/s download speed). How much does upload speed play in this?

Re: WMSA 4: New format for online racing (READ THIS)
Those numbers are bytes not kilobytes. So 40 riders would be around 2.5 megabytes per second. That would be about 20 megabits/second.
It's almost all upload bandwidth. On each step every client will tell you its state, and needs to know the state of the other clients. So for 10 players it would be 90% upload and 10% download if you don't count the headers.

Re: WMSA 4: New format for online racing (READ THIS)
That flew right by me haha. That makes a lot more sense now. So now knowing the chart right, and upload plays a bigger role, I should be able to smoothly run about 12 or 13 riders. I think I have 200-300 kB/s upload speed.

Re: WMSA 4: New format for online racing (READ THIS)
that would be sikk if some how someone had a server that could run all 40...then it could be like a real natonal

Re: WMSA 4: New format for online racing (READ THIS)
That would require ridiculously fast internet and then people with extremely fast computers.jb624 wrote:that would be sikk if some how someone had a server that could run all 40...then it could be like a real natonal
Im not sure but in theory would a lan setup (ethanet cables) be able to handle 40 riders?

Re: WMSA 4: New format for online racing (READ THIS)
So Mikey are you saying that in AMA Motorcross next year if James Stewart races he should get the number 1 plate because he is the fastest and he would have won it if he was there? LOL Racing is racing you still have to win to get the title!Mikey wrote:No mittocs is because hes the best no matter what, hes always gonna be #1 everyone else foes to #2
