I get the same, just closed and reloaded. Seemed to work but my (dodgy) startgates stay black, must be something to do with me not bothering to set any sort of texture when I made them.

I don't think people should complain about the graphics now for a while after this snapshot :)
Thank you so much for this one JLV!

The specular strength is up to the modeller. Most have it set to 50/511 hardness, with a specular exponent of 0.5/2.0, which is Blenders stock settings
Well... :?

YOU modelled it!!?!?!!

They were pretty sucky anyway, I just knocked up some skinnier ones which work quite nicely. :D

Excellent work jlv. I only have two questions, and they are more of a misunderstanding. How closely related are shaders and dynamic shadows in terms of coding, and how far behind are normal and possibly parralax mapping from this update?

From what JLV has said before, dynamic shadows and similar things take an extra step to produce, which is why he will do them later. He also said that Frame Buffer Objects need to be working perfectly to do it.

I'd imagine the mappable shaders will come next. I wouldn't expect parralax mapping, itd be too complex, and unnecessary at this stage, because that is generally used for terrain.

Yeah. And I think it looks good how it is.

And Jonthe is gonna come in here bitchin now, because 'he made it'

Editor is not working for me (shaders on) , no menu text.
And with 'esc' key, a spiral of white sample text is drawed curiously from center of screen and fill it.

Did you try to fix the ATI compatibility error in this release ?

That's a good point. I'm using (ambient + diffuse + specular) * texture because that's what the fixed OpenGL lighting uses, but (ambient + diffuse) * texture + specular would make more sense.
I'm getting this bug on a few tracks. Its like black fog for all 3d models (except terrain). Has happened to Maxxis Enduro-X, Windcott and Cartel Test Track. But once a track works properly, once i go back to these tracks, they work fine
It's happening when the fog exponent is 0. I'll put a test in the shader to avoid doing exp2(0).

I've fixed the editor bug. For the ATI bug I'll probably have to make a small test program that triggers the bug and see if they will fix it.
