Xbox 360 Controller Issues

I just downloaded the driver for the 360 wired controller on my pc and my pc recognizes the controller and i have the config setup right for the controls but when i start a new race none of my controls are working, like the pc stopped recognizing the controller or something. Please some help

have you configured the controls in the control menu. better yet are you using a wired controller or a plug and play because plug and play does not work on computer, the only thing that works is a wired controller.

When you mean wired controller do you mean a wireless controller with the charge cord plugged in or do i need a controller with a wire already attached to it?

wired controller = NOT wireless

With my controller i have to have the controller turned on BEFORE i open the game. If i open it at all before turning it on the controller does nothing. But i cant play currently cause the receiver wont turn on
