Optimise Game

Post by Robert196 »

Please. I can run every other game with 80 fps with super high detail but I can't run MXS worth a crap. Only 25 fps with no shaders, 128x128, graphics card set on performance. I think this is one of the major things that should be done to the game.

Was getting 25-30 fps with settings lowered and some models taken out in the Red Bud race :(.

Not much I can do for the models that get used aside from replace them. I'll try to make some detailed wheels with good LODS. That probably accounts for a large percentage of the wasted geometry in a 40 rider gate.

Really, most of the optimisation comes from the user created side of things. The bikes, wheels, rider and helmets need more lods. I got a bit lazy with the CRF and didn't make lods unfortunately.

Yeah, I took out Wheels HD for todays race and it helped quite a bit. I'm thankful I have a pretty good PC. I definitely plan to take out the slow blue model for nationals :D

I found a way to optimise! Everything as default as possible and so on.

Result = Unbelievable.

Playing with no user-created crap is the best way to "optimize" the game

It's also the best way to make it look like a nintendo game, I don't understand why games that look FAR better than mxs (no offense) run alot better than mxs?
Does all that come from LOD's?
Or is it just the graphics engine?

There are a few more tricks that can make games perform better. Like not rendering objects hidden behind other objects. But some of these methods are highly complex; shitloads of money is spent by gaming developers to develop such methods.

Maybe Checkerz knows something about it, maybe we should pay him...

I don't know, Checkerz was a track maker as far as I know.

CPU Multicore utilization would be awesome. A lot of those visually badass games have it.
