That's very well said.

I had a Ktm 300 exc about three years, with sxs pipe though. But it felt like it had much more range at the top rpms, still it was a 300 and should have more torque than peak power.
In the game it really feels like a clutch is slipping. The bike is handling much more realistic if I set up gearings to a longest possible, I mean like this it has more traction at the top rpms and I can use the peak power more.
I think that 250 bikes should have less traction at low rpms and more at the top.

That's why I ride 250's only in enduro cause then there's no need to rev all power out so the bike sounds and handles more realistic. I also discovered that using a 125.braap (with some minor modifications) makes 250 sound better IMO. Actually it sounds just like a new exc or gas gas or some other bike that has kind of metallic sound. Also you can hear the peak power changing sound more powerful.

Yeah, I've been using higher gearing on the 250's than 450's. Will have to try doing that to the sound file too, I've been wanting to mess with it some.

Isn't it usually like 3-4hp boost from just a pipe...?

The dyno run was done 6,000 feet below sea level.

Interesting read.
http://motocrossactionmag.com/Main/News ... -8417.aspx
We spent a couple race weekends swapping bikes and test riders to get enough laps to prove one undeniable fact: if a rider can turn in a 2:03 lap time on a 250 two-stroke, he can turn the same time on a 250 four-stroke. Motocross racers must have internal clocks, typically referred to as “talent,” that determine how fast they are capable of going. A faster bike didn’t necessarily make them faster.

What I've seen about the 250SX is pipes help it's power after peak, in large amounts.
http://motocrossactionmag.com/KTM/News/ ... -8964.aspx
The simple solution was an aftermarket exhaust pipe. Bolting on a Pro Circuit KTM 250SX pipe and silencer didn’t add any power from idle to 8000 rpm, but by 8500 rpm, it made a half horse more. At 9000 rpm, the Pro Circuit pipe made 5-1/4 horsepower more; at 9500 rpm, it makes an amazing 7 horses more. Don’t read that to mean that the pipe made the 250SX produce 57 horsepower—what it did was produce more horsepower after peak in a place where the power was weak before.

On a side note, do the 450's stop faster than the 250 2-strokes because the geometry of the 450's (Honda?) is that much better than the 250's (KX250)?

One thing I know, FMF are better than Pro Circuits on ktm. :P

I think the sounds play with my mind and make it seem less powerful. They sound way to flat up top to me. I think if the sounds were more realistic then they would feel better.
