Update on my texs. Finished the disp map today but still not happy with some parts of it.
Pay no attention to the sand in the first pics. I noticed they were to white and edited it. Critique from the last pic, if you need better angles for any let me know.

Sprinkle a little bit of pepper on it. It helps.

A new freeride area that im working on called "Dune It Well". It's got a nice elevated road passing through the map, making for some awesome road jumps. I've got about 2 hours into it so far.....Don't know how much more I wanna add besides a differednt lower half of the skybox for blending purposes.

Stay down, your sand texture does look amazing. I do not think the road area is logical though, if that were real life the sand would erode to the point where the road would collapse. ;) I like the idea of all these natural terrain areas. What is the terrain scale your using? By this I mean the map size.

DD, the map is 1025 X 1025 with a terrain factor of 1. The map isn't that large, just something I whipped up today while at work. Since you mentioned the erosion factor, I am now going to tweak the textures. I might add some dead grass/dirt to the road area for ground solidness to give it more realizm. I have another project that is in the hands of DJ right now for some object/tree shading. I am all about realistic environments and scale, so only expect that from me. I'm a noob track builder with alot of ambition, and I won't release anything until I am completely satisfied.

New ground texture and added an edge to the hill. Don't worry, Im not going to picture of every change, I just thought this looked way to sick.
