had permit at 16.5 (you can get em at 15.5). Never got license in that year due to various reasons. Expired at 17.5. Just waited til im 18 so i could get my license straight away without the 6th month wait period.

So yeah. Just stuff happening. plan to get license on 19th if i pass behind the wheel. Then i get my Mazda and can actually drive myself to work. (yay)

It boggles my mind that you can drive a car on your own at 16 but you can't buy alcohol until you're 21. America is a strange country!

England's also a strange country, it's ridiculous that the new bike laws state you can't ride anything with over 14kw at the age of 16. So I would be limited to a husky 125 until I'm 19 I think. Then I can't get a 450 until I'm 24... Yet I've been riding since the age of 6

You can't legally drink when you're 16 because you will do some really stupid shit.

You can't ride a fast bike on a slow road when you're 16 because you'll go fast (do some really stupid shit.)

They don't? I can tell you what my friends and I did in our younger days, and that pretty much sums it up.

Not saying there aren't 16 year olds out there capable of handling those responsibilities, but there is a logical reason behind the law in that most cannot.

In his case, whining he can't drive a fast bike until he is 24, he is shooting for 24, not 21 August. Even at 28 I don't see the point in have a fast road bike, I would still ride it fast. Tell me again why your R1 needs to go 180MPH?... Never got that, but I guess I've always been able to get it out of my system on a track.

It's not your personal skill or maturity level, but your age demographic as a whole. Besides you would pay through the roof for insurance on a fast bike if your under 24. From 18-24 with no accidents or tickets I paid $230/mo for insurance on my Dodge Dakota. Total it up that's more than I paid for the truck.
