Has anyone here got much knowledge on printers? Currently running only a Mimaki CJV150-130 for the printing side of things as its only me doing one job at a time i don't need much more.

I'm looking to invest in a printer which can print straight chrome or flouresent, currently i just inlay it which isn't ideal as you always have that slight lump due to stacking materials and its a long process. I'm familiar with the Gerber Edge FX but for doing full kits it just doesn't make sense for me due to the cost of ink, material and time it takes to produce them. Any ideas what process some of the bigger companies are using?

We have battled with this for a while but had settled without the Gerber and dont really care much to get one. For example this last year we have bought 4 new epson printers but they do not offer any way to print flo or chrome colors. There are Summa printers that you can get to print chrome but they operate off ribbons and you can only have X amount of ribbons loaded at once. From all the research I have done, the Gerber is about the only way right now to do the chrome/flo like you'd like it to turn out, but the costs to run the machine are outrageous.

Thanks for the indepth reply mate! I've searched high and low and just can't get my head around how companies are producing the graphics like they are. I'm by no means a total noob, but when it comes to that aspect i am  But now you mention the ribbon system is makes more sense when companies only have all black logos on a chrome fender for example. It's the cleanest look but i've never really noticed coloured logos when people have chrome or flou unless its inlayed. Really sucks as i don't want to go down the Gerber route, especially as there's a local guy killing the evo/90s stuff with one already so i think i'd be wasting my time. Might consider one just for swingarm and fork stickers tho!

110 looks good brotha, I actually made the KP's 110. While I'm flattered you used my design, as a designer be creative and make something your own. Good work though!
