What's the point of a 350? Does it race the mx1 or mx2 class? Because it seems kind of retarded unless they allow 250 2t's to race mx2, and if that happens, allowing the 350 is counter-productive to that rule.

well as of last year "250" class was 250cc-under and "450" class was open-450cc. 250f's were actually legal to run in 450 class, but there is no advantage to it so nobody did it. The 350f would be legal in the 450 class but there will be no advantage to it either. I think its stupid if it is true. Also the bikes will not be homologated until midway through the sx season so he will most likely not be on one until outdoors.

The 450 at times is almost wasted power. What they're thinking is that the handling gains from the reduced weight are more than enough to compensate for the power disadvantage. Either that or ktm knows that the 250t is gonna come back and 450's are gonna get knifed by the 350f.

Cairoli has been riding a 380cc -400cc bike this season, and won the championship on it.

i heard a while ago that the AMA was downsizing the 450cc class to 350cc in the up coming years for safety concerns with new technology and what not. maybe KTM is just getting a head start?

If it's just an overbored 250 KTM is going to save a lot of money by only having one chassis and bottom end to produce.

The 350 will be perfect it wont spin every time u give it more than half throttle like a 450 does and if you were good enough to go fast on them you have to get on the break way earlier when entering a corner so if the 350 could go as fast as the 450 and you could break later it should be alot faster. I think it would be more of an advantage on slick supercross tracks though so im suprised they wont use them for supercross aswell.

The AMA isn't going to downsize the class based on the power difference. The theory, as already stated, is that the riders are not using all of the power that the 450s offer. What ktm is thinking is that the 450 will be easier to ride, and the smaller hp numbers will allow the rider to become less fatigued, resulting in better results than riding the 450. And the reason alessi won't be riding it in the us (at least in sx), is because the ama rules won't allow it because ktm will not have it homologated (correct spelling not in sp check... :? ) by then.

If the 350 breaks later than the 450 though I guess that is a plus.

Have you ever ridden a 450? Obviously not because you have no idea what your talking about you can break alot later on a lighter bike because you have less weight to slow down. You just stick to your 85 try get it into 3rd gear for once.
