Re: gaming
DICE removed critical legacy features that made the battlefield franchise so good while adding in stuff from other popular titles that no one asked for.
I.E removal of assault, engineer, support, and recon so they could implement specialists (copying COD) which later down the road can be abused for microtransactions.
It's not an unfair assessment that the game was broken on release. It's cool if you like it, but I hoped for better out of DICE considering what happened with BFV.

If you need a refresher on everything missing, here is a pretty comprehensive list and literally the top post on the r/bf2042.

The fact that it has taken dice four months to add a scoreboard really tells you how much they care post pre-order/holiday sales.

Re: gaming
It's not critical to have a 128 player scoreboard. Hit tab and see your k/d. The specialists are so far the best part of 2042. I can be a medic that also gives ammo. That's damn cool. Again, I think too much emphasis is being put on old features that aren't that important. It's more of a whipping boy than a massive failure. Whipping boys are so in right now.

Re: gaming
Yeah the BF franchise has been on a downward decline for the past few releases. When they announced portal I was mixed about it because on one hand its exactly what I want to see in a BF game but part of me also knew it was a signal. You guys aren't going to like our game or its going to be empty and we need you to make up your own stuff while we get going. I want to like and get the game but it going on sale half off two months after release told me about everything I needed.
Similar to a bunch of other games in the industry now, they want this big mainstream audience and are attempting to appeal to them but that audience is even looking in their direction meanwhile the people wanting the game are being turned off because the things they used to love about the game are no longer there.

I agree with you Puma, they promised a game to the battlefield fans but we ended up with a game that is built for people that don’t even play battlefield.
I’ve moved on to WW3 beta, it actually feels pretty good if you are needing a “Battlefield type” fix.

It's sad how fickle and/or picky you damn kids are. I don't understand why you have to completely turn your back on Battlefield because of no full scoreboard? No traditional kits? Who effing cares? It's awesome that you can mix and match gear and abilities. It's a great feature that I've seen nothing but sniveling about. you can have ammo AND medical resupply in the same loadout! Whatever, I've watched the industry go from lame to awesome and back to lame because of demographic shifts. The fact that I don't see complaining about CoD doing an annual release of the same lame shit reminds me that it's the same people that don't complain about the obscene, shamelessly repetitive comic book movie madness that has consumed the industry. Going back to BF5 or BF4 is pretty stupid.

Re: gaming
-No campaign
-No server browser
-Fewer maps
-Fewer guns
-Fewer secondary gadgets
-Fewer game modes
-Zero navy vehicles
-No voice chat
-Can't create new squad or change
-Less environmental destruction
-No HUD customizations
-No scoreboard
You can like the game thats fine. You are hung up on the scoreboard when that is one of many things. The lack of traditional kits I didn't put in the list but is one of my problems. Now with "heros" everyone looks the same, before when you were fighting as faction soldiers you looked different from the enemy team. With kits you had to participate as a team instead of being able to provide yourself with resupplies and health, you needed an Eng class for anti-vehicle and couldn't all just be medics. Clearly, you like that aspect, and thats ok, but it works against what I want.
Also, people are complaining about CoD, including CoD developers themselves. If more people are playing an older game than your new one its because the new one sucks. Not because they have this spite boner.

Re: gaming
That's it! Thanks for giving me a good phrase for what most YT vids about it are about. I knew you'd come through for me! There's a few that very well explain how it's had a buggy launch and it's different without exasperated drama. That's weird since THAT'S never happened before in a game sequel. I also think spreading themselves too thin across too many platforms hurts every time. Cyberpunk anyone? It's also definitely a whipping boy for angst-ridden, cooped up kids wanting a full non-covid title. That has some bearing as well but never gets any mention. Ah well, it's certainly not enough by any stretch for a BF fanboy to turn their back.

Re: gaming
Biggest slept-on game in the past 6 months - WW3?
Customization is off the charts as well and encourages grinding out levels for weapons/characters/vehicles

Re: gaming
I tried it way back, cant remember how long ago now. Think it was a LevelCap video I saw on it. Really rough launch and didn't seem like it held up. I'm sure with this much time in it now its gotten better and maybe they would be better prepared for a player base.

Re: gaming
I just bought Superliminal for 10 bux on Steamer based off 2 seconds of gameplay. It's like Echochrome and Portal and some other perspective shit thrown in there for insanely imaginative gameplay for those who mayn't heard about it.

Re: gaming
Personally, I liked All Out. I didn't but MESX or MXGP assuming I'd just buy Legends and its DLC. The environment trailer looked pretty good but every single gameplay trailer they show has been terrified. It looks awful. Models, animations, they showed the menu, the bike interactions. All you needed was an All Out with less rebound and I can't tell but it halfway seems like erode was removed. If that's the case I don't know if anything can save it.

If you have an RTX card you definitely should check out this Unreal 5 engined FPS-style tour of the Titanic in amazing detail, especially when you zoom in with the mouse wheel or controller if you want. The link is good.https://www.titanichg.com/uploads/Demo401_V1.4.2.zip I installed and ran through two decks and the up to the helm. Pictured here. Beautiful except in 3rd class lol.
