Handlebar question

Post by thegman »

So I'm getting some new bars soon and I don't know whether to get pro taper fatbar or just regular thin renthal.

I heard the fatbar decreases vibration, but also heard the same for the renthal's.

opinions and experience are appreciated, thank you :D

I believe it's just preference, really. I prefer Pro Taper bars without the crossbeam, myself.

The bars w/o a cross bar require larger bar clamps as well.

IMO the Pro Tapers are much harder to twist in a crash. Easily worth getting the new clamps.

renthal handlebars have been really good for me so far, I use to use pro taper's on my 85's and they were awesome as well, I will probably try some pro taper's and if they don't work out I'll switch back

Make sure that you chose the right bar for your hands. Because a to 'fat' handlebar or a to small can cause some serious armpump problems.

Actually, what I mean is they don't get twisted in the clamps and feel weird for a few laps after a crash. Mine never bent either but maybe I just got lucky or the quality has since gone to hell.

i have had no problems with my pro tapers, and ive had some pretty rough crashes. i prefer the protaper bars w/o the cross bar over the renthals with the cross bar, but its all about preference.

High sided in 3rd pinned and put a huge kink in my Renthals, endoed down a hill at similar speed destroying my shoulder and my Pro Tapers were fine.
