Tried making a low poly carb for funsies, ended up being not so low poly (812 tri). I have a hard time choosing where to put tris when ending edge loops, so I end up carrying the loop around to adjacent sides.

The boot from the carb to the reed cage isn't modeled.

Really good. What's the big deal is something is high or low poly?

Low poly models are used in game engines because its simply less data for the engine to render there for causing less lag.. If I was to import a high poly model to sim I would most likely crash the game or get horride fps.. That's why we use low poly for games. High poly is used for baking different maps and such to give the low poly the quality of a high poly.

Ok cool. I want to start to get into modeling and what not. Is a low poly modle just less triangles?

A lot.. My Yamaha model low poly is around 25000 tris for the whole bike when my high poly is around a couple hunderd thousand tris just for the plastics. If I was you I would look up the basics of each.. Like what low poly modeling is all about and what high polying modeling is like.

Hope you don't actually think the spark plug is in the carb.

Thanks, I'll see how frustrated I get if I do any other parts of the engine .

That's something I made a couple months ago, its not 100% done as you see, but I guess its pretty good so far.
If you want to keep things very low poly, you either have to be very good at this whole poly flow thing, or you gotta be lucky with the whole shape of something.
However, there's another option, just use seperate polygon meshes like below. It wont work that good with bakes, since you dont have a fully connected surface,
but its still very good in places, which you cannot see anyway the whole time.
I could sit here and try to explain my whole point, but nah its after midnight and i am tired. #peace
