Attacker: Airoh Helmet

Post by attacker5 »

Hello everyone,
Yes I know, I am working on a ktm, it will still continue, just need something else along the way.

I am going to model an Airoh helmet again, this time better. Need some advice though, how should it be unwrapped, a wire frame of another helmet would be nice so I know.

My target, I would also like to know who would be able to skin some kits.

Here's my advice on helmets, since I've made a couple that both could have been better in different ways.

For first person view, it doesn't matter where you make the seam since you cant see it while riding.
For third person, right at the back of the helmet is critical to be seamless since it's what's most visible.

With that said, probably the hardest part of the helmet to mesh together in the UV is the back because of the curvature. I'd say try to minimize stretching as much as possible while still trying to connect as many back vertices at the split. Food for thought I spose.

Well, thanks for the replies, will keep that in mind DDMX,

I am doing the aviator, cause I personally think it looks more factory. :)

Perfect Side, front and top views would be sick.
Put it far away and zoom in a lot is a good way of getting a good orthographic image.

Thank you.

*Like* I need to agree though. I'd rather have an Arai... SUprised no ones made one yet.

Nice man glad to hear it. If you need any help with the template let me know, I'll be looking forward to starting some skins soon as the uvmap is out.
