Pictured below is a 1979 Maico 400 two-stroke. During this period, Maico 250, 400 and 440 two-strokes were the best bike to be had, though Maico unfortunately didn't have the bucks to competitively support professional riders. Nowadays, all the bikes we see are all plastic and radiators, with space thrusters and laser beams all over the place, where funky shapes and flamboyant angles have become the norm. Subsequently, that's all we've been seeing in MXS. Now, obviously we don't have the capability to create big two-strokes. But that doesn't matter, we can still make it race like a 125, but have that classic post-vintage Maico look that collecters 'round the world scramble for. So, is there anyone who thinks they have what it takes to make the Maico? Of course, there are other Maicos to be had, anything between 1974 and 1983 is gold!
