Can someone help me out and give me a tutorial on how to create skins. Like what software i need and stuff like that

right ,i have the same problem as u ,ive got GIMP and that is relly good but i need a template ,type in google GIMP free download and download GIMP 2 .thats what i got then get a template but its harder then u think
